Provisions Food Company, creators of handmade, all natural foodstuffs, is an excited team of makers led by Lori McDonald. Now hailing from Niagara, Lori was raised in Harrow, Ontario, an area also known for its rich agricultural traditions. Like many teenagers who grew up in Southern Ontario, Lori picked orchard tender fruits in season which established an appreciation for local produce.
A burgeoning wine industry has spawned many award winning restaurants with acclaimed chefs. But what about the wineries that do not have their own restaurants? Lori was inspired to provide accompanying foodstuffs to supplement all that Niagara wines have to offer. Savoury and sweet shortbreads to provide a toothsome pairing for big reds and refreshing whites, condiments to enhance cheese pairings to wines and confections to top off any picnic or road trip.
The Provisions team is passionate about bringing people together through food and sharing their love of delicious handmade foodstuffs.
Lori McDonald has spent the better part of her career in the food and wine industry in many different facets. Lori was motivated to move to Niagara by a lunch she once ate at On the Twenty restaurant in 1998.
Throughout her career, Lori has gained insight into the exciting connection between agriculture and the local
culinary scene, acquiring a discerning palette along the way. She has an appreciation for the science behind agricultural practices and cooking. Lori also has the uncanny ability for attracting talented, food-obsessed individuals that share her passion for making Provisions great.
A native of Niagara, Lyndsay grew up surrounded by Niagara’s bounty and a family full of talented cooks. Even while finishing a degree at Queen’s University, she knew her true passion was in the kitchen, and quickly enrolled at George Brown College where she excelled. She then started working for the Oliver & Bonacini group of restaurants and catapulted through the ranks at Jump where she was recognized for her strong ability to train new employees.
Lyndsay has since moved back to Niagara to raise her family and joined the Provisions team in 2013 where she lends her skill, creativity and sense of humour to the company as Production Manager.
Big sister to Lori, Moira has always been a trailblazer in the world of food and and cooking. After graduating from culinary school, Moira worked in well-known restaurants and food emporiums across Canada. She also ran a Chateau-turned-cooking school in the Limousin region of France before starting a family in the small town of Mount Albert, Ontario.
Moira co-authored the Harrow Fair Cookbook with Lori in 2010 and has also published the Kitchen Table Cookbook in 2014. Moira enjoys collaborating with the Provisions team and is always happy to test future products on her family and friends. Tommy Nguyen is a graduate from Niagara College’s Culinary Innovation and Food Technology program – he’s a real food science guy. But he’s also a food-lover, a people-person and to top it off, he has a great eye for design. Tommy joined Provisions Food Company in 2015 and he brings a set of skills to the team that is unique and essential to the business as we continue to grow.
With a special focus on events and media, social and traditional, Tommy is working closely with every department at Provisions to help improve and grow the business one step at a time.
