The café order you'll stop leaving the house for.
This is the drink you order at your favourite café, made better at home. Provisions Vanilla Bean Craft Coffee Syrup goes into the espresso base for a subtly sweet foundation, while Salted Caramel Craft Coffee Syrup whips into a cloud of cold foam for that signature sweet-salty finish on top. A little effort, beautifully rewarded.
Ingredients
- 2 shots espresso, cooled slightly
- 1 tbsp Provisions Vanilla Bean Craft Coffee Syrup
- ¼ cup milk of choice (optional, for those who like it creamy)
- Ice
- For the cold foam: 3 tbsp heavy cream or cold oat milk, 1 tbsp Provisions Salted Caramel Craft Coffee Syrup
How to Make It
- Make the cold foam: combine cream (or oat milk) and Salted Caramel syrup in a small jar or frothing pitcher. Froth with a handheld frother until thick and foamy. Set aside.
- Stir Vanilla Bean syrup into the cooled espresso.
- Fill a glass with ice, then pour in milk if using.
- Pour espresso mixture over the milk.
- Spoon or pour cold foam generously over top. Serve immediately.
Why It Works
A macchiato is built on contrast - bold espresso against something sweet, bitter against smooth. Using two syrups here isn't extra; it's intentional. The vanilla bean rounds the espresso without competing with it, and the salted caramel cold foam sets the stage for flavour.
On the foam: Heavy cream makes a thicker, more stable foam that holds its shape. Cold oat milk froths lighter and melts into the drink a little sooner - both are worth trying, depending on what you're after.
